This report is the National Education Technology Plan (NETP) submitted by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to Congress. It presents five goals with recommendations for states, districts, the federal government, and other stakeholders. Each goal addresses one of the five essential components of learning powered by technology: Learning, Assessment, Teaching, Infrastructure, and Productivity. The plan also calls for "grand challenge" research and development initiatives to solve crucial long-term problems that the ED believes should be funded and coordinated at a national level.

The article describes the purpose of the evaluation for Statistics for Action (SfA): to learn to what extent SfA's set of materials and resources and training developed by math educators with input from environmental organizers, could increase numeracy among environmental organizers and the community members they serve. For this generally unpopular content (math) in an unusual context (environmental campaigns), the author describes project and evaluation design choices that worked, and those that didn’t.
This funding solicitation for FY2014 in the Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) program at the National Science Foundation seeks to advance new approaches to and evidence-based understanding of the design and development of STEM learning in informal environments; provide multiple pathways for broadening access to and engagement in STEM learning experiences; advance innovative research on and assessment of STEM learning in informal environments; and develop understandings of deeper learning by participants. The main goal of this chapter is to describe how research findings on a scaffolded, focused, reflection-oriented community of practice transformed museum educators’ identities as educators. A second goal is to describe the theory, the multiple methodologies drawing on that theory, and the layered analysis that accompanied this research. The authors' theoretical lens is sociocultural, placing great emphasis on community building, dialogic negotiation, and ongoing reflection and research on practice.
The authors argue that schools should be communities where students learn to learn. In this setting teachers should be models of intentional learning and self-motivated scholarship, both individual and collaborative (Brown, 1992; Brown & Campione, 1990; Scardamalia & Bereiter, 1991). If successful, graduates of such communities would be prepared as lifelong learners who have learned how to learn in many domains. This paper is part of a the presentation that Hermann Schafer, Director General of the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, and Hands-Joachim Klein, of University of Karlsruhe, gave at the Visitor Studies Conference in St. Louis. The researchers present the idea of making comparisons and appraisals of other exhibitions which have similarities to the exhibit which is being planned, as a systemic approach of evaluation which is supplemental to current procedures, known as "ACE"--Analogous Comparative Evaluation.
In this paper, evaluator Marilyn G. Hood of Hood Associates examines 70 years of audience research and what we know about frequent visitors versus occasional visitors. Hood recommends broadening evaluators' perspective of visitor research to include literature from the fields of sociology, leisure science, consumer behavior, and psychology.
