Summative Evaluation of Project POWER

Goodman Research Group, Inc. (GRG) conducted process and summative evaluation for the New York Aquarium (Wildlife Conservation Society) of Project POWER: Protecting Our Wetlands with Educators and Regulators. The project was designed to train teams from around the country to present wetlands workshops in their local communities to reduce the frequency and magnitude of wetlands violations by community residents. Parent Partners in School Science: Parent Engagement Research Study

In 2001, The Franklin Institute Science Museum (TFI) received funding from the National Science Foundation to develop and implement Parent Partners in School Science (PPSS). A year project, PPSS was designed to demonstrate how a science museum can facilitate K-4 children's science learning in and out of school, working with teachers and parents from 3 urban elementary schools in Philadelphia. Touring Theater Program Feasibility Study Report

The Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM) carried out a feasibility study to gauge the interest of local educators in a traveling theater program. An online survey was sent to 190 educators who had previously participated in a SMM educational outreach activity. A total of 73 educators responded, for a 38% response rate. Educators commented on their level of interest in bringing such a program to their school, specific features of a program (age level, audience size, cost), and the likelihood they would use such a program. The survey instrument used in this study is included in the report.

Evaluation of Lives in Science Library Resource Kits

Goodman Research Group, Inc. (GRG) conducted summative evaluation of the educational resources kit for Forgotten Genius, a program from the PBS television series Lives in Science. Forgotten Genius explored the life of the scientist Percy Julian, an African American chemist who persevered in the face of racism to become one of the great scientists and inventors of the 20th century. GRG's evaluation focused on how public librarians used and assessed the educational resources kit, as well as their suggestions for revising the kit and conducting future science-related library outreach.
