First of ASTC-CAISE CoP Webinar Series Available Online

How can we develop a more expansive, yet critical, view of what we mean by “broadening participation in STEM?” How can our programs be designed or re-designed to more fully integrate evidence on broadening participation? What resources do organizations and individuals need to better document and assess how programs advance broadening participation? These are some of the key questions guiding the new Broadening Participation Task Force of the Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education (CAISE). A recording of this initial, live webinar is now available online.

This webinar is first in a series hosted by CAISE for ASTC’s Communities of Practice (CoPs), which will feature enrichment opportunities focused on CAISE’s three new task forces: Broadening Participation, Evaluation and Measurement, and Research and Practice. In this recording, you will meet a couple of members from the 15-member task force, which includes practitioners and researchers from the fields of informal science education and science communication. Learn more about their process for developing a suite of professional learning resources intended for informal science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and science communication leaders—those who want to develop their staffs’ capacity to better design and implement effective broadening participation approaches.

For more information about future webinars in the series, contact ASTC’s Korie Twiggs.
