CAISE Welcomes ASTC’s New CEO and President
Please join CAISE in welcoming the Association of Science-Technology Centers’ (ASTC) new President and CEO, Cristin Dorgelo. Cristin has worked to advance science, technology, and innovation throughout her career, including during her service through January 2017 as Chief of Staff at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in the Obama Administration. At OSTP, she led public-private efforts to pursue 21st Century Grand Challenges and worked with Federal agencies to increase the use of open innovation approaches, such as incentive prizes, crowdsourcing, and citizen science. As she gets started at ASTC, Cristin is focused on launching an extensive listening, engagement, and planning process to identify future steps ASTC can take to help its members meet their public missions in informal STEM learning and science engagement. Reflecting on CAISE’s role, Cristin notes, “CAISE and InformalScience.org represent a vital resource for researchers and professionals in informal STEM learning, and I’m excited to explore how ASTC can provide ongoing support for this work in the years ahead.” CAISE looks forward to collaborating with her on strengthening the knowledge base for informal STEM learning and science communication. More information about Cristin’s initial priorities at ASTC can be found here, and a blog about her initial weeks with ASTC can be found here.
