Latiné communities in the United States represent a dynamic and diverse population reflecting varied backgrounds, experiences, and contributions. These contributions can form the foundation for a future STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) workforce that is prepared to meet pressing local, societal, and global challenges. Quality STEM learning experiences, which fully recognize these contributions, can also strengthen the well-being of Latiné communities. The National Science Foundation (NSF) is committed to advancing STEM learning in formal (e.g., pre-K-12 schools) and informal (e.g., museums, science centers, afterschool programs) settings.
"Conectando Saberes" united experts and learners from diverse backgrounds to explore the current landscape, amplify voices, and identify priorities for equity and transformation in STEM learning among Latiné youth and families. Building from their collective strengths in practice and research, attendees envisioned new and equitable futures for STEM learning and identify actionable pathways for achieving those futures.
