National Science Foundation: Microelectronics Education Virtual Workshop

For the United States to capitalize on the investments made in the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, the Nation requires intentional education pathways that will meet microelectronics workforce needs in the near- and long-term.

Come participate in this NSF-organized virtual workshop that brings together members of different communities involved in microelectronics education to discuss current practices and partnerships, as well as the needs for the future of microelectronics education and ideas for approaches to fill these gaps.

Potential discussion topics: what is meant by “microelectronics education” at various levels, what disciplinary knowledge and skills are fundamental to microelectronics, what are current approaches to microelectronics education and where are the needs and gaps in current efforts, what kinds of partnerships might be useful in furthering microelectronics education at different levels, and what kinds of training and support K-12 teachers and informal educators need.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 1:00-5:00 pm and Wednesday, May 24, 2023, 1:00-5:00 pm Eastern time

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone involved in microelectronics education and workforce development, including individuals from industry, researchers from fields related to microelectronics, education researchers, and practitioners including from K-12 and informal education.
