The American Horticultural Society is excited to announce that the 2023 NCYGS, in partnership with the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and UT Gardens, will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, July 12 – 15. The 2023 Symposium offers 30 interactive learning sessions, eight field experiences, and a never-ending bond to peers who are also passionate about children in gardens.

The annual Symposium is entering its 31st year as the national model for youth gardening education. Leveraging a proven train-the-trainer model, the Symposium has cultivated thousands of educators across the country who return to their communities inspired, invigorated, and motivated to educate a new generation about the importance of gardening.

This year’s theme, “Cultivating Community,” is a response to the social distancing phenomenon that illuminated the importance of community in child development. NCYGS will unite hundreds of educators to explore ways that community support for youth gardening promotes cultural understanding and accessibility, physical and emotional health, and career and business development for the next generation.
